This month, Frank Fiction is joined by Joel Parisien—a 4X Juno Nominee with 3 top-five Billboard Singles and frontman of NewworldSon alongside Norfolk County soul and bluegrass songwriter Nolan Gibson. Together, they’ll share the stage, trading stories and stripping down their songs in an intimate, collaborative circle.
What is Songs In The Round?
Songs in the Round is an intimate concert where multiple songwriters share the stage, trading songs and stories one by one. Inspired by Frank Fiction’s decade as a songwriter in Nashville and the famous Bluebird Cafe, we’re bringing this unique format to Crown & Press, stripping songs to their essence: human, conversational, and often spontaneously collaborative. All evening, songwriters take turns sharing the story behind and then performing a song, offering the audience a rare look at the craft behind the music, with others sometimes joining in. It’s a listening-room experience built on connection, surprise, and songs as they were written: up close and personal.
Special Guests
Joel Parisien
Joel Parisien is a Toronto-born, Hamilton-based singer, songwriter, and producer whose deep baritone and keyboard chops are rooted in soul, gospel, and classic R&B. As frontman of Newworldson, he earned four Juno nominations, landed three top-five Billboard singles, and headlined festivals across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He also produces and writes for Chops ‘n’ Soul, a funk/soul project collaborating with ex-Parliament/Funkadelic members including Bernie Worrell and Fred Wesley. Whether he’s behind a Rhodes or standing at the mic, Parisien brings a rare combination of schooled musicianship and raw groove.

Nolan Gibson
Nolan Gibson is a Norfolk County–based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who started sitting in with local blues and roots bands at 14, most notably The Shoeshine Boys and Jesse Murphy Trio. Since then he’s played in a bluegrass duo with Eric Brousseau and a folk/soul/roots duo with Amber Banks, among other collaborations. His lyrics draw on John Prine, The Band, and traditional folk music, and no song is safe from creative reinterpretation — he tends to reshape his material from one performance to the next. He’s the kind of artist who learned by playing, making him the perfect addition to Songs In The Round.
Who is Frank Fiction?
Frank Fiction is the newest moniker for Hamilton songwriter Elias Dummer, a Juno Award–winning recording artist whose career includes eight Billboard Top 40 singles, five Top 40 albums, and over 100 million streams. After a decade in Nashville, Dummer returned to his hometown of Hamilton to co-found Crown & Press, where he now hosts Songs In The Round—a full-circle moment that brings together a lifelong love of songs with a room where art meets everyday life.
